Are we going for a brunch?

But first let's define where the word Brunch come from?

The word ‘brunch’ is a combination of breakfast and lunch, and it’s eaten between breakfast and lunch time. Some define it as a late breakfast, or early lunch. It first appeared towards the end of the 19th century in England and seems to have been born from the British upper classes. On Sundays wealthy families would give their servants a day off, after getting them to prepare a buffet style meal which their employers could then eat from for the rest of the day.

Nowadays the brunch is usually associated with the weekend, perhaps because these are the days in which one can sleep a little longer, and is usually served between 10am and 5pm, depending on the city and the restaurant.

Where to eat Brunch in Bogotá?

To honor our topic this week, I bring you two of my favorite places in Bogota to eat an excellent brunch.
(In your comments you could tell me if you know brunch places in your city, maybe you could visit them someday.)

Fratelli.
Carrera 5 No. 69-27 Bogotá (G zone)

They have the best benedictine eggs in the world! It is a very cozy place, with an interior design in the Nordic style. It is located in one of the most popular gastronomic areas of the city.

My favorite dish on the menu are the toast with avocado, smoked salmon with a Benedictine egg and a little chili, but I also recommend you the pancakes, omelets are absolutely delicious, or it is simply a great place to have a good coffee or something refreshing.

La Castaña
Cl. 57 #5-17 Chapinero Alto

I discovered this place this week by chance. I was looking for a place to have breakfast with a friend for my birthday but it was a bit late to have a breakfast, I was walking in the area and it was the first thing I found open and it was a pleasant surprise.

You can find any type of patties that you can imagine; patties of cheese, chicken, meat, lamb, cheese, chocolate... (yes there are chocolate!) But you will also find a wide variety of sandwiches, eggs with many convincing, French toast, salads, they have very good coffee and a wide variety of drinks. It is a nice place to have a late afternoon or drink, and the service is excellent.

Finally, there´s no doubt that the first restaurant is italian, that word is in plural and masculine. Those toasts with vegetables must be absolutely delicious. I´ve heard a little about them. Mamma mia. Io voglio mangiare adesso. Thanks Paola. Grazie mille per tutto.
